Caln Community Day was celebrated on Saturday, September 9th, from 3pm until dark. In addition to the new time, this year’s event was held on G.O. Carlson Blvd between Municipal Drive and Thornridge Drive and included many new events and activities like fireworks and a beer garden.
Families enjoyed delicious food, a petting zoo, pony rides, moon bounces, zip line, music, local vendors, photo booth, dunk tank, car smash (benefiting the Jacinda Miller Memorial Fund), and much more.
This year also featured an opportunity to win big cash. Up to 1,000 golf balls were dropped from a 100’ ladder truck. The closest ball to the marker below won $1,000 with the 2nd closest ball won $500. Tickets were purchased at the Township building or on Community Day for $10/ball.
Parking was available in Municipal Park and at surrounding businesses.
PROGRAMS/EVENTS (2016-2017)
We hosted the Spring District meeting at the end of the year, and installed our new officers in June and planned our programs for the New Year. In August we audited our books and held a board meeting.
In September we started the year off with a BPW table at the Caln Day Community event to reach out for new members. We presented and adopted our budget at our October meeting and our program was Women's financial health presented by Jean Bravo. In November we had our Quarter Raffle and had a program on Graphic design by Melissa Maani from the Phillies organization and she also became a member. We continue to support the Mary Walker House at the Coatesville VA sponsoring 35 women with a personal gift for Christmas. We also participated in Wreaths across America where members laid wreaths on graves at Hopewell Cemetery.
Programs have been speakers like Brenda Russell from Fiorenza’s Food For Friends (F4) who spoke to us about connecting food/garden organizations and getting that food to the needy in our communities. Susan Weidner, an established author, who started a writing circle for women. In March Lizzette Grecia and Ferlin Charles from Women's Counseling Services gave us so much information on helping women with every day anxieties ranging from indiviual to family issues and both are planning to become members.
FUNDRAISERS/DONATIONS (2016-2017)
We collected items for Cradles to Crayons for the needy children in our district. A New Day part of the Salvation Army is another area where we collected items for victims of sex trafficking. This has been a project for several years and we are helping veterans' through David's Drive 831 collecting undewear, pajamas and cash donations.
On Sunday, October 23, 2016, we enjoyed a fun and successful Quarter Raffle that was held at VFW 106 in West Chester from 1pm to 3pm.

Thank you for coming out to this special event and we hope you enjoyed the quarter raffle, 50/50 raffle, the wonderful baskets and got some holiday shopping done with our participating vendors!
