We enjoyed meeting our guest speaker, Angela White, founder and Executive Director of Wonderfully Me Inc. Angela was Greater Downingtown BPW's guest speaker in October. Her empowerment program mentors girls ages 8 - 14 giving them an opportunity to build self confidence, promote self worth and self development.
Greater Downingtown BPW members joined their BPW/PA sisters from all over the state of Pennsylvania to commemorate Women's Right to Vote at the Alice Paul Institute in Mount Laurel, New Jersey on Saturday, 9/7/19.

Guest Speaker on Alzheimer’s – Greater Downingtown BPW - 04/12/2017
Dr. John Medaglia, Research Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania was the guest speaker at the Greater Downingtown BPW meeting on April 12, 2017. A clinical neuropsychologist by training, Dr. Medaglia studies brain networks to identify personalized targets for brain stimulation treatments for stroke and dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease. Dr. Medaglia also aims to understand the basis of cognitive problems associated with stroke and dementia, such as why some individuals are more resilient than others or respond better to treatment. Dr. Medaglia’s work has been features in major journals in the neurosciences and neurology. His research is supported by the Office of the Director of the National Institutes of Health, which recognizes him as one of a few “early career scientists with the intellect, scientific creativity, drive, and maturity to flourish independently”.
Dr. Medaglia spoke on the topic of Alzheimer’s. He gave the group a broad view of what Alzheimer’s is, how it effects the brain and the groups that are more vulnerable to be targeted by this disease. Dr. Medaglia entertained questions and provided information on how to maintain a healthy brain through exercise and healthy living.
